The High Court Family Bar Bench Committee is a Practice Committee of LSK Nairobi aimed at improving relations between the bar and bench. It is a well customized stakeholder engagement with an aim to positively impact legal reform and streamline practice.
Members discussed and agreed on the following matters
It was resolved that members would hold a special meeting to discuss review of the Matrimonial Property Rules.
The committee has been working on a Draft Adoption Procedure Tool to streamline and sensitize members on adoption practice. The same was agreed to be shared with the committee members for final review.
Members received a report that the Succession Amendment Bill drafted by the Committee was awaiting approval of by the Cabinet Secretary.
Members noted the need for the committee to conduct civic knowledge awareness on registration of customary marriages.
Members also recognized the need to promote mediation in the family division.
