Law Society of Kenya Nairobi Branch met the Permanent Secretary of Lands and the Acting Land Secretary at the Ministry of Lands and Physical Planning to discuss many issues affecting our members. The Permanent Secretary assured members that they are in a bid to automate all services at the Ministry of Lands. Some of the key issues that the Ministry is trying to achieve are to mitigate fraud within and outside the Ministry and also improve on efficiency. The Permanent Secretary reiterated that fraud has been rampant at the Ministry of Lands because of analogue systems and people have been getting away with it. The Ministry also redeployed most of its staff and some that were found to have engaged in fraudulent transactions/processes were dismissed. The Branch stated that it will support this new move by the Ministry of Lands in an effort to improve service delivery and curbing fraud at the Lands office.
